- Avem are a punk rock band that sings songs about birds and human life experiences as told through the perspective of birds. This song is in support of the Double Crested Cormorant, whose population was almost destroyed due to DDT usage in the 60s. Now they are threatened by a proposed cull of their species by 50 birds a day per hunter during the entire period they are in Ontario.
