  • I had this idea years ago to do an all-Canadian themed early-70s era Moog record project. A tip of the hat to the various also-ran Moog records that became bizarrely popular in the very early 70s after the release of Walter Carlos’ Switched on Bach. It was going to be awesome.

The premise was to find not just Canadian tunes to cover, but songs that were so iconically and disturbingly ‘Canadian’ sounding as to make the most erudite CanCon junkie blush a maple-coloured complexion whilst dramatically dropping their copy of the Marshall McLuhan reader to the floor. I recorded a bunch of tunes, did rough mixes, and was rewarded with a mess of an unarchived hard drive crash, taking all the bed tracks. boo. Now I have unfinished static mixes, some really swell album art, and a far-too-involved liner-note back story including over the top retro-Canadiana, time travel, and the remnants of Hugh Le Caine’s instrument creations being dug out of the basement of various

Eventually I’ll figure out this mess and it’ll get done. In the meantime, this is first one I did. Anne Murray’s ‘Snowbird’. I humbly submit the first track of ‘The Electric Beaver’ project.
