The premise was to find not just Canadian tunes to cover, but songs that were so iconically and disturbingly ‘Canadian’ sounding as to make the most erudite CanCon junkie blush a maple-coloured complexion whilst dramatically dropping their copy of the Marshall McLuhan reader to the floor. I recorded a bunch of tunes, did rough mixes, and was rewarded with a mess of an unarchived hard drive crash, taking all the bed tracks. boo.
