  • I’m a singer/songwriter whose second instrument is rhythm guitar and I’m a convincing fake on every other instrument to non-musicians. This song is some DADGAD thing I wrote to win someone over and later used to get a better understanding of Garage Band. I recorded it using a Blue Spark and an ART USBMix, an MPKmini and an assortment of guitars. It’s ok. I’d change things if I had the patience or time. The writing is fine.

  • Sharing the newest single from the psych/desert band I play in Rainbow Patrol. The group consists of myself on guitars, bass and vocals along with Chris and Travis Arnoldussen on guitars and drums. A whole schwack of stuff was used to record the song but it wouldn’t have sounded the same without my Gibson RD Artist, Rickenbacker 4003 and 70’s Peavey Standard 120.   • I had this idea years ago to do an all-Canadian themed early-70s era Moog record project. A tip of the hat to the various also-ran Moog records that became bizarrely popular in the very early 70s after the release of Walter Carlos’ Switched on Bach. It was going to be awesome.

The premise was to find not just Canadian tunes to cover, but songs that were so iconically and disturbingly ‘Canadian’ sounding as to make the most erudite CanCon junkie blush a maple-coloured complexion whilst dramatically dropping their copy of the Marshall McLuhan reader to the floor. I recorded a bunch of tunes, did rough mixes, and was rewarded with a mess of an unarchived hard drive crash, taking all the bed tracks. boo. Now I have unfinished static mixes, some really swell album art, and a far-too-involved liner-note back story including over the top retro-Canadiana, time travel, and the remnants of Hugh Le Caine’s instrument creations being dug out of the basement of various

Eventually I’ll figure out this mess and it’ll get done. In the meantime, this is first one I did. Anne Murray’s ‘Snowbird’. I humbly submit the first track of ‘The Electric Beaver’ project.
