I wrote this song because for some, Christmas is difficult especially when you’ve lost someone close. Recorded live off the floor in Ancaster Ontario with myself on Yamaha Baby Grand /Vocals with Paul Intson on Upright Bass.

I make music under the pseudonym Drabbit and this is my take on Stevie Wonder’s song « You and I ». It’s licenced for digital distribution and available for download and streaming on all major services, just search “Drabbit You and I”. The vocal was performed by Mike Ferfolia. The treatment of this track is heavily influenced and inspired by the artist deadmau5 and his more introspective, cinematic, beat-less music. I recreated Stevie’s T.O.N.T.O. synth parts as best I could on my Moog Music Inc. Sub 37. I used NATIVE INSTRUMENTS Kontact for the string sounds, Xfer’s Serum Synth for the bass parts, and The Dave Smith OB6 for the arpeggios.

I am a drummer and composer and I work in Accounts at the Halifax store. Previously, I taught drums at the Oshawa, ON location. I recorded this track with a Steinberg UR 44 and Apex mics. I recorded my Practice kit with a Zoom H4 and cut out a sample of a decent groove to use. I played my Yamaha Bass, Squire Strat, and Novation X Station Synth directly in with some of the standard Reaper plugins. I also played a Value Village Guiro, Gon Bops and Mountain Rhythm Congas, and some Dollar store Squeaking Pig toys. I wrote this tongue in cheek jazz ballad when Covid 19 started in response to the lack of TP (toilet paper) as a result of people hoarding. Some comic relief during a difficult time, hope it makes you smile.
