Chris Burling – oinkin’ down the street

I am a drummer and composer and I work in Accounts at the Halifax store. Previously, I taught drums at the Oshawa, ON location. I recorded this track with a Steinberg UR 44 and Apex mics. I recorded my Practice kit with a Zoom H4 and cut out a sample of a decent groove to use. I played my Yamaha Bass, Squire Strat, and Novation X Station Synth directly in with some of the standard Reaper plugins. I also played a Value Village Guiro, Gon Bops and Mountain Rhythm Congas, and some Dollar store Squeaking Pig toys. My new project is called « Nomad Homestead » and all my social media can be found through the website link. Thanks for Listening!

Darcy Kadatz – True Lust

Garage Mahal was a quirky side project that only existed for a short while, 2012-13. We may have only done 3 gigs and recorded a 5 song EP. But it was fun. We actually wanted to create a modern Rock-Opera….maybe next time.
The line-up consisted of Alden Brewer – Vox (formerly @ LP42), Dave Johnston – guitar (Acc. Serv. @ LP42), Jayson Aschenmeier – bass (Assistant. Manager. @ LP42), Justin McLean – keys (Roland Canada & formerly @ LP42) and myself on drums.

Recorded after hours live off the floor at LP42 lesson center.

The only rule was: There are NO rules!!!

Warren Elder – Apparition

I am the drummer for The Luminary, and we have four other members: Alex Telfer (vocals) Kyle Collins (guitar) Jakes Stolee (guitar) and Josh Ford (bass/clean vocals). Our band uses a balance of technical instrumentals, melodic themes and cathartic breakdowns, to create an ever-changing atmosphere of energy and emotion. FFO Polaris and The recorded drums were completed at OIART, here in London Ontario, using Pearl Reference shells and Murat Diril cymbals.

Karen Thornton – Where does all the TP go?

I wrote this tongue in cheek jazz ballad when Covid 19 started in response to the lack of TP (toilet paper) as a result of people hoarding. Some comic relief during a difficult time, hope it makes you smile.

The song was recorded at our location by our « top shelf » recording department Ron Elliot, David Lindsay and Troy Pawczuk.

Darin Janzen – Strange Days

I said the phrase ‘strange days’ at work one day, and later on I came up with a simple 2 chord progression, Gm13 to Dmaj and started hearing the melody with that phrase in my head. It sent me on a journey of sorts exploring where the tune would go, so I got up into my home studio full of mostly old and obsolete gear and started bringing it to life. I tuned my guitar to DGDGBE to give it a darker feel.

Berkley Shea – Salvation

Remember that song you bought once…the one you just couldn’t get out of your head. You listened to it again and again. You knew all the words and those words worked a kind of magic on you. They took you back to another time, made you pump your fist in the air, remembering that first kiss. Or maybe they choked you up, remembering that time you got your heart broken. That’s what a David Johnston song does. It takes you to a time, or a place, that makes you remember how you got here, how you became you.
Here is the song Salvation from the David Johnston Band in Calgary, Alberta. We are all seasoned musicians that have a vast history with touring and playing. Let me introduce you to the Players

David Johnston – Songwriter/Lead Singer/Lead Guitar
Berkley Shea (Me) – Bass Guitar/BG Vocals/Street Team
Scotty Lamb – Drummer/BG Vocals

Patrick Lemieux – Wallaroo Trail

We’re Clavius, a post rock band from our nations capital. This is our only song that was recorded with a singer, which he wrote his own lyrics and laid it down in one take. I play guitar as well as write most of the music for the band. We originated as a two piece (me and a drummer) but we eventually obtained more members to fill the wall of noise.

I use a 2011 Mexi Strat, through a pedalboard and into a Twin Reverb. My pedal chain includes: Polytune, OCD, Rat2, BigSky, Visual Sound Tap Delay (very underrated), Re-20 Space Echo and a Line6 DL4, mainl used for quick looping on stage.

We also have an album out, which you can check on our bandcamp.

Thank you!

Clay Francis – Oblivious

I make beep boop sounds with modular synths, a drone synth I built a few years ago that sometimes works, and an OP-1. Sometimes I run these through bass effect pedals. All songs are live recorded and improvised, with minimal EQ or post processing in DAW – the goal being to just be using the computer as a tape machine that can upload things to the internet. The project is called ‘TORSO’.

This is a song I wrote years ago that I decided to record. The keyboard player in the band I’m in UK47 laid down the electric piano part (thanks Dave). Just put it on Spotify.
