I said the phrase ‘strange days’ at work one day, and later on I came up with a simple 2 chord progression, Gm13 to Dmaj and started hearing the melody with that phrase in my head. It sent me on a journey of sorts exploring where the tune would go, so I got up into my home studio full of mostly old and obsolete gear and started bringing it to life. I tuned my guitar to DGDGBE to give it a darker feel.
